The $2.3 trillion is far more than 401(k) plans lost. They held about $10.8 trillion in June, so a 4.4% fall costs them about $0.5 trillion, even if every dollar sat in the S&P 500.

Calling it a 401(k) wipeout misses what actually got sold. The S&P closed Friday still above its 200-day average. The Nasdaq 100 is 3.6% under its own. That's not a market betting on a weaker economy, the jobs number the next morning was fine anyway. It's a market cutting what it's willing to pay for next year's data centers.

This year's money is mostly spent or committed. 2027 is where a moratorium bites, and Moody's has the big spenders near $1 trillion for that year. Chips were priced on that trillion. I'd watch the January earnings calls a lot more closely than anything posted on Truth Social.

Trump ignores the big post-election markets RUN-UP on Wednesday. Analysts have been saying for months that the markets, especially the Nasdaq, are over-valued.

My conservatively invested IRAs each dropped about 2-3%. The markets hit all time highs during Biden's term. Markets have been in a "trading range" during the past two years; sometimes above the Biden records and sometimes down. Early last year, I took more steps to better "Trump-proof" my portfolios, which works well on market days like yesterday.
