US economic freedom index surges sharply
The United States recorded its biggest annual increase in economic freedom in more than two decades according to the latest Heritage Foundation Index, climbing to its highest ranking since 2000 as deregulation and tax cuts under the Trump administration take effect.

Highest ranking since 2000: The US climbed back to levels not seen since the early 2000s thanks to policy changes in regulation and taxation that have boosted overall economic freedom scores significantly.
Key drivers identified: Reductions in government spending lower taxes and decreased regulatory burden were the main factors behind the improvement according to the latest Heritage Foundation report.
Global implications clear: The strong performance signals renewed US competitiveness and may encourage other nations to pursue similar free-market reforms in response to America’s success.

Iran oil shock scrambles Fed outlook
The Federal Reserve’s rate path is being thrown into question after oil prices surged past 100 dollars per barrel due to the Iran war, forcing policymakers to reconsider the balance between inflation risks and economic growth.
Oil price shock hits: Brent crude topping 100 dollars has dramatically altered the inflation picture for the Federal Reserve and its future policy decisions.
Rate cut expectations shift: Markets are now pricing in fewer rate cuts or even a pause later this year due to higher energy costs.
Geopolitical inflation risk: Sustained high energy costs could keep core inflation elevated for months creating a difficult policy environment.
Policy dilemma deepens: Fed officials must now balance war-driven inflation against slowing economic growth signals in their upcoming meetings.
Trump signals possible end to Iran war
President Trump indicated the Iran conflict may be approaching its conclusion while oil prices remain above 100 dollars per barrel, as professional investors deploy new strategies to navigate the energy shock caused by prolonged disruption in the Strait of Hormuz.

Oil stays above 100: Brent crude continues trading in triple-digit territory despite de-escalation signals from the White House.
Hormuz disruption lingers: Tanker traffic through the critical strait remains severely restricted even as fighting appears to be easing.
