Treasury Sanctions Iran's Drone Network in Latest Crackdown
"Iran continues to pursue the development of asymmetric weapons capabilities, including unmanned aerial vehicles, to carry out attacks on the United States..."
The Treasury Department announced new sanctions Thursday targeting Iran's military drone program, sanctioning one individual and five entities across Iran, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China for supporting Tehran's weapons development.
The sanctioned entities were reportedly purchasing technology from Iran's Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company, a state-owned subsidiary of Iran's Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics. This ministry produces military aircraft and drones used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to threaten U.S. forces and regional allies.
