While the accomplishments so far have been very real and beneficial, we must remember that Goering promised Hitler to defeat Britain with air power. Iran’s ability to conduct asymmetric and economic warfare is so far successful in their closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Although we have massively reduced Iran’s supply, production, and launching of all sizes of missiles and drones, they still seem to have a very effective supply and launch capacity given > 2500 launched at U.A.E., e.g. The Islamic Republic, if allowed to continue “declawed”, can still be very effective with asymmetric warfare internationally via terrorism, which does not require them to supply weapons or personnel, merely promote home grown radicalization amongst Middle Eastern and Western nations. The “threat” of several thousand of our best ground troops on site is a hollow one as the IRGC’s Mosaic defense will enable local commanders and resources to conduct endless guerilla warfare, with the local population essentially powerless to help. If the troops are used to occupy the islands, they would fall prey to drones, etc, over a long period as we continue to use airpower in a reactive defense. The foreseeable course may be continued destruction of launch and storage facilities as they are used, and their military-industrial complex, as well as either embargoing and seizing all oil tankers leaving Kharg and their other facilities to deny them the income and perhaps also destroying the “loading docks” at their oil facilities leaving the main assets intact. This may well require an ongoing indefinite use of air power on a daily basis over Iran to continuously destroy these assets and any attempt at rebuilding them. Other local Middle Eastern countries may well welcome further U.S. military presence and air bases for this effort. This regional expansion could come at the expense of drawing down our presence in Europe. Until such time as the IRGC is effectively defeated and disarmed (as has only partially happened with Hamas and Hezbollah), this military operations will not end in a few weeks but continue albeit at a lower intensity for the foreseeable future.
Thank you for clearly defining the motivating objectives of the current "Administration" in Iran; "Death to Israel, death to America." Most "International Affairs" sites whine about some inherent right for all countries to have nuclear weapons. I have yet to see a reference to any other country with leaders willing to state possession and use of nukes as their country's primary objective. The risk in being believed would seem suicidal... But apparently, their brand of Islam encourages even their own death in support of a belief in world domination.
