The Denver P.D. has had good success with using teams of highly trained mental health professionals to deal with some crisis intervention calls. The neighboring city of Aurora; with a Republican mayor; has also had success. Police are nearby as needed in both cities.
Sadly the first series of responses by non Police Fficers to Domestic Violence calls will get these people killed. Domestic Violence cases are one of the worst and most dangerous calls that law enforcement officers can get called to. Always ugly and dangerous.
with the highest number of incarcerated individuals in the world our country obviously needs to take a different approach. instead of grooming prison inmates we should be developing productive citizens who contribute to society in a positive way don't you think? we aren't born criminals or successful it is the influences in our lives that make the difference, we have made a horrible mistake by incarcerating non-violent drug offenders. I want dangerous violent offenders incarcerated to protect us.
