I find it quite amazing that in today’s time, corporations like this one are still trying to shove their woke agenda down middle America’s throat!

You would think they would have learned a lesson from watching other big corporations and name brands crash into the mountain of public opinion when going woke.. ie: Bud Light, Disney,John Deere, Target to name a few… but nope.. they would rather cater to a small minority of people in America compared to the majority of Americans who detest being force fed these ridiculous ideologies and will just quit going and supporting the companies that do so!

But maybe that’s their intent in the first place.. to purposely crash and burn the brand because someone is going short on the company’s stock.. because nothing else makes any sense!

Do you hear that Cracker Barrel, those are bugle taps playing in the background.. your rebranding just might be the death of you!

You poor dear. So fearful and afraid of "woke."

Gus D's avatar

Not fearful at all of “woke”.. to each his own! I just don’t like it forced in my face for me to have to smell it and told to like it in the process! Keep it to yourself! Because the majority of us don’t care for the odor!

There has been a broad based movement during the past 20+ years, surrounding "diversity and inclusion," to get kids of all races and backgrounds out into nature and the outdoors. No "indoctrination" other than teaching kids about nature and how ecosystems work, even in cities.

This is part of that "dreaded acronym" DEI. Do you support helping kids learn about nature, especially inner city kids? If not, why not?

"majority of us......" "I don't care for the odor." Fixed it for you.

Gus D's avatar

In that context of course no one is going to disagree with helping inner city kids learn about nature.. but you know as well as I do, that’s NOT what the DEI program has done. It unfairly puts people in jobs and positions in companies solely based on their race, gender or sexual preferences..instead of based based on their qualifications and putting the best person in that position! And the DEI movement has been forced on companies to succumb to this agenda or face litigation for not doing so! Just because a group screams louder than another doesn’t make it right!

Haven't really seen that occur much in Colorado, where I live. Of course, my state also trends somewhat libertarian and wants to offer opportunities for everyone, especially those who are historically disadvantaged. One still has to do the work though.

As an example, we have a Taxpayers Bill of Rights in our state constitution. I'm not aware of any red state with that. Not everyone agrees. We do have a far left, ultra progressive, faction in state politics. We also have an ongoing MAGA vs. MAGA "civil war" in the Colorado GOP that has been somewhat humorous to watch. We elected three new Rs to the US House last November (Crank, Evans, Hurd). The far right wing-nuts here had already labeled all three as "Rinos" before they were even sworn in.

Perhaps I'm out in left field here, but I don't believe the CEO and Board of Cracker Barrel have any intent to 'save' the brand. Despite the public statements, I believe the CEO always intended to crash the plane gently, knowing that the brand was likely beyond saving when she arrived. I believe their real intention, not public, is to control the decline of the stock price and arrive in Chapter 11 in an attractive position for venture capital buyout. The attraction is liquidation of the real estate on which many CB stores sit, which past VC buyouts have shown us are a primary asset. The payoff for the C-suite and CEO is not years of employment, but generous 'golden parachute' severance packages representing years of employment compensation in a lump sum payout. The task is to guide the decline in a controlled way to avoid uncontrolled bankruptcy and immediate move to Chapter 7 liquidation for debtors.

There's only one way to help you out. Have you given your life savings yet to President Trump's PAC? He can make better use of your money than you can.

So you're not willing to put your money where your mouth is, as in making a large donation to President Trump's PAC? Too bad.

Oh, I didn't "lose"anything. I follow the old song by AC/DC: "Money Talks." As long as I'm being paid, I can put up with a lot of Trumpian junk. The last year my retirement and other accounts lost money was in 2020, when Trump mis-managed the response to COVID and the economy. Made really good money under Biden, even a little better than what I made under Reagan. Jury is still out for this year. Bye.

the single most frightening story right now is the idea that retirees are going to be able to invest in alternative assets. talk about finding the bag holders for the PE firms who cannot unload their crap. this is a disaster waiting to happen with vultures salivating at the potential future returns when those assets come back on the market at a 50% or more discount

Steve's avatar

Good point. Hopefully only the very wealthy retirees; those with money they can afford to lose; invest in the crypto stuff.

Seems that whenever something aint broken some woke idiot tries to put her stamp on screwing it up ——but the top moron has to approve it —- they never learn from BUD disaster

Steve's avatar

Why would younger people in their 20s and 30s want to be regular customers at their grandparents' restaurants, like C.B.?

Len's avatar

To relieve th e times that they spent with grandpa ?? And grand ma in the place?!

Steve's avatar

Maybe, but doubtful.

Len's avatar

Ok but my grand kids in their 20s like to go there with me —

As a long time registered Republican, and a baby boomer myself, I am continually amused by the gullibility of my fellow boomers who fall for the latest far right wing "sound bites" so often.

Did anybody bother to think about the non-attraction of grandpa in his jeans, on the old logo, for younger generations? My one time in a C.B. was in the Billings MT Cracker Barrel back in fall, 1998, I think, as a stop-over on my way to visit Glacier National Park. I wasn't impressed by either the trinkets or what others were eating.

Tuesday is a good day to go, for the Tuesday Country Fried Pork Chops, smothered in country gravy. With two sides. I probably will check it out!
