When a nation institutionalizes death as a form of care, it is not simply adjusting its healthcare system. It is redefining its moral framework. And the cost of that redefinition is not abstract...
Seem that Canada health system which seems incapable to timely cure their citizen found an alternative —- help yhr to die !! Careful -/ Drmoc rats might want to copy this —-Obsmacare 2
I can see it evolving in the US as a “cost saving” opportunity. (They already have is in Oregon and WA, I do believe.) Maintaining the dignity of a life requires upkeep and that requires money. They have already cut so much out of what Medicare will pay for. Doctors are reimbursed dimes for dollars. It is a wonder they stay in practice. They are also very quick to dismiss ailments, fail to treat until the person is in dire straits. All in all, a sordid mess.
Oregon has the Death with Dignity Act (DWDA), enacted in 1997. So far, "only" 3,243 people have self-administered pills to kill themselves. Not yet euthanasia by another's decree, but in Oregon, how far away could that be?
The mantra "Keep Portland (and Oregon) Weird" betrays just how dark this state has become over 40 years of hard core democrat rule. The new mantra might be better said as "Keep Oregon Demonic".
Every other state, please ignore Oregon...it's lost and its people refuse to change direction. Time to move on.
The Canadian public health system is broken in every way. People that have the money head south (USA) for serious healthcare and pay out of pocket. Those without the means stay in a broken healthcare system that kicks the can down the road until the patient gives up. Most Doctor's leave Canada because they can make much more money in other countries (USA).
When I read a few years ago about a female Canadian veteran suffering from PTSD and TBI being told that the only option was assisted suicide, I flipped the switch and vowed to never say anything positive about CANADUH again. As a country that pushes it's veterans who served Canadian interests overseas to assisted death for a cure to her suffering made me puke. To me it's just cost cutting and abuse . Fk CANADUH
It is all about money. Why is the cost savings not shared with the grieving family members, sounds gross but if it is not about money than the gvt owes funds to the survivors. But in reality gvt & politicians are gross & corrupted and out for themselves at our expense. "Thank you for your vote" is the last you hear from them until they need your vote again, gained with a new set of lies.
What this article also shows me is that Canadians must trust their politicians a bit more than Americans do to make a "just" decision. Also I recognize that we'll end the suffering of animals but not humans. It isn't always about money and we need to stop hiding behind this issue.
Canada is not alone in their debauchery of so called health care. Here in the US they call abortion clinics planned parenthood when it is essentially planned infanticide. We also have another name for the murder of unborn babies. They call it women's health or women's rights.
What rot! Helping people to die with dignity...legally, is a good thing. Doctors have forever been doing this. Don't imagine they haven't. Now they can do so, not be charged and the public can be assured that an ulterior motive is not behind it.
Although the article states "...it did not happen overnight..." regarding euthanasia/MAiD it may be argued that actually it did.
Medical murder was not acceptable in Canada until the Trudeau Liberals took office. Euthanasia exploded after the Carter vs Canada case in 2015. In less then 10 years.
In those 10 years under liberals, (Trudeau 9), medical killings rose from a few select hundreds to the 5th leading cause of death in Canada by 2025. So yes under liberals 'mercy killing' did occur overnight and grew at an astronomical exponential rate.
Liberals are the greatest propagater of death culture.
This is about MONEY. When government takes over a medical system people begin to be judged (by the state) on their future financial contribution to the state VS the financial cost to the state. Older, sicker, costly members of society cost the state more than they can contribute. This is a scoring system actually used in UK to decide who lives and who dies based on their (health) score.
Let's be honest and trace it back to abortion. Once that was normalized, euthanasia was almost an automatic next step. This was the two-sided debate back in the 60's when I was in high school.
Marxists always have a long game plan. Slowly moving the Overton window.
My guidance on all of this is in the book of Jeremiah.
"And Christ said, 'I knew you before I placed you in your Mother's womb.'"
Leaving the planet is not my choice. Causing my unborn to leave is not my choice. We have strayed so far from God...

I believe that money plays a big role in this. It’s way cheaper to dispose of a life than to pay for proper medical care.
You could be right.
True! A socialist healthcare dodge for sure!!
Yet another dodge that facilitates saving money instead of planning for companionate and ethical care.
And I think it's mostly being foisted on white people.

This is all propaganda.

Liberals are the greatest propagater of death culture.
Conservatives lead to wars & those are involuntary deaths too even if in the “service of the nation”.
Sara Palin was mocked when she proposed a scenario where leftists in our country could establish medical death boards that make these decisions.
