Just read something called the Adam Becker Report on natives leaving their home states. CA ranks near the top in having the lowest percentage of native born citizens who leave for somewhere else. Expenses and taxes are relative. Low tax states like LA and OK rank near the bottom of states in education dollars spent per student, for one example.

From what I’ve read CO is expecting a 1.2 billion for fiscal year’25-26. Granted that’s way lower than CA. I hope your state doesn’t go down the same rabbit hole that CA has.
Colorado is constitutionally required to have a balanced budget. There is some limited borrowing authority. The shortfall is coming primarily from Medicaid expanding faster than the growth rate in the state that generates tax revenue, even though CO has a healthy economy. Trump's reckless plan to greatly increase national park entry fees for foreign tourists will adversely impact our economy statewide as well as local economies in gateway communities.
