A dazzling leap that rivals the invention of the wheel or the harnessing of electricity. It’s reshaping industries, accelerating scientific discovery, and promising a future where complex problems find elegant solutions.

Yet, as we marvel at AI’s potential, we face an inconvenient truth: our addiction to this technology is outpacing our ability to power it. The world stands at a crossroads, forced to confront a stark choice between ambitious environmental goals and the energy demands of an AI-driven future. If we don’t act decisively, we risk stalling progress or plunging into an energy crisis that could dim the lights on our digital dreams.

The environmental movement in particular, with its clarion call for Net Zero emissions, faces a profound reckoning. However noble these ideas sound in speeches to the UN or in viral tweets there is an inconvenient truth, wind and solar falter under the weight of AI’s voracious energy appetite.
